For 72 hours, from May 10 to May 13, Luxe Du Jour paused its usual no-offers policy for the Make An Offer event celebrating the shop's 6th anniversary. Normally offers are reserved for VIP clients, with reasonable ones passed to consignors, but during the event serious offers were welcome.
How did Make An Offer work?
Clients sent a direct message on Instagram or a text with a photo of the item and their offer. Every submission received a reply of accepted, a counter offer, or a decline. If an offer was accepted, a deposit or payment was required within 5 hours, or the sender could accept the counter offer instead.
What were the rules?
Only reasonable offers were considered, and low ball offers were not entertained. The shop is a consignment business that takes one of the most competitive and lowest commission fees, as low as 12 percent, and it did not want to insult consignors. If an offer was accepted and payment did not arrive, the sender was blacklisted and no future offers were accepted.
Why is the event a big deal?
Luxe Du Jour normally never accepts offers unless you are a VIP client, though it may pass a reasonable offer to a consignor. Opening that door to everyone for 72 hours, as part of the 6th anniversary celebration, is why clients had been waiting patiently for the event.
