What to expect, by condition

At Luxe Du Jour, we take condition seriously. The caliber of pieces we specialize in draws clients who are discerning by nature, with high expectations for accuracy and care. We meet those expectations by grading every item consistently, so you always know exactly what to expect.

Every piece we offer is graded across five tiers, from Pristine to Good. Each grade reflects the overall look and feel of the item, so there are no surprises when it arrives.

PristineBrand new
New and unused, with no signs of wear whatsoever, exactly as it left the boutique. Arrives with its complete set of original accessories, such as box, dust bag, and authenticity cards. For our most prestigious brands, including Hermès and Chanel, a full accessory set is always required.
ExcellentUnworn
Also new and unused, meaning this item has never been worn. Tags may no longer be attached, and it may carry faint traces of storage wear rather than any actual use, the kind of subtle marks that come from time spent in storage rather than time spent on the arm. Storage wear describes the gentle, cosmetic effects of time rather than use, things like a faint zipper imprint, soft creasing where the item was folded or held in its dust bag, or a light settling of shape from sitting untouched. It does not affect structure or function, and it is never the result of handling or wear.
GreatGently used
The first tier to reflect genuine use. Wear here is light and surface-level, limited to minor, isolated marks that stay confined to inconspicuous areas rather than anywhere prominent.
Very GoodWell kept
Wear becomes clearly noticeable here, the result of regular but careful use. Imperfections are visible and apparent, though they stay confined to natural points of wear and never take away from the piece's overall appeal.
GoodWell loved
Wear here is moderate and distinct, consistent with a piece that has been regularly and genuinely used. It remains very much wearable, full of the character that comes from being truly enjoyed.
Any notable condition detail particular to a piece, such as a scent, a storage mark, or a missing accessory, is always called out directly in its listing description. Our photography is also intentionally thorough and captured in high resolution, so you can see the exact condition of an item for yourself before it arrives.
