Spring 2025 brought price increases across four luxury houses: Louis Vuitton lifted the Neverfull MM to $2,240, Van Cleef raised the Alhambra 5-Motif bracelet to $4,800, Hermès added a US-only increase tied to tariffs, and Rolex moved US prices about 3 percent.
What changed at Louis Vuitton and Van Cleef and Arpels?
Louis Vuitton started the season with a firm lift across its core lineup. The Neverfull MM in Monogram Canvas moved to $2,240 USD from $2,110. The Pochette Accessoires went to $1,450, and the Neverfull GM reached $2,370. No new hardware, no reinvention: the same silhouettes with a bolder number at checkout.
Van Cleef and Arpels followed, as if carried by its own Alhambra motifs. The 5-Motif bracelet in yellow gold and Mother-of-Pearl moved to $4,800 from $4,550, and the Magic Alhambra Pendant reached $5,800. The move reinforces rarity, and it tests even the most devoted collectors' self-control.
Why did Hermès and Rolex raise US prices?
Hermès confirmed a United States specific increase starting May 1, citing the need to fully offset President Trump's newly imposed 10 percent tariffs. The increase affects American buyers only: Kelly and Birkin prices in Paris were unchanged. Rolex moved on the same date, lifting US prices by about 3 percent. April had been volatile, with tariffs on Swiss imports briefly reaching 31 percent before settling at 10 percent, and a surging Swiss franc, a weaker dollar and gold above $3,300 an ounce added to the pressure.
Rolex had already nudged gold model prices in January, steel pieces could follow, and even authorized dealers were asked to surrender more of their margin. When the most controlled brand in horology moves, it is serious.
What does this mean for pre-loved buyers?
At retail, you now get less for more. If you buy pre-loved, your existing collection may have just appreciated in value, and if you have been watching from the sidelines, this is the cue to act before the next adjustment. Luxe Du Jour monitors these shifts closely but does not price on reactionary hikes: listings reflect market demand, not boardroom decisions or currency swings.
