The Goyard Saint Louis is the tote most people picture when they say "Goyard bag": a feather-light, unstructured carryall in Goyardine canvas, priced around $1,950 USD for the PM at the boutique in 2026. The GM adds real travel capacity for roughly $300 more, while the structured Artois and the reversible Anjou solve the same problem with leather trim.
Goyard tote sizes compared
Three silhouettes cover almost every buyer. The Saint Louis is the lightest and most relaxed, the Artois is its structured, zipped sibling, and the Anjou adds a leather side so the bag can be carried two ways. Dimensions below are approximate; a well-used canvas tote relaxes slightly with age.
| Model | Approx. dimensions | Structure | What it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saint Louis PM | 34 x 28 x 15 cm (13.4 x 11 x 5.9 in) | Unstructured, open top | Daily essentials, tablet, folded cardigan |
| Saint Louis GM | 40 x 32 x 20 cm (15.7 x 12.6 x 7.9 in) | Unstructured, open top | Laptop up to 14 inches, gym kit, travel day |
| Artois MM | 35 x 26 x 15 cm (13.8 x 10.2 x 5.9 in) | Structured, zipped top, leather corners | Work carry, 13 inch laptop, documents |
| Anjou PM | 34 x 28 x 15 cm (13.4 x 11 x 5.9 in) | Reversible, Goyardine and leather | Everyday carry, worn either side out |
The Artois line also includes PM and GM sizes, and the Anjou a GM; the four models above are the ones we see most often on the pre-owned market, and the ones worth comparing first.
What is Goyardine canvas?
Goyardine is a coated woven cloth, not leather: cotton and linen finished with a flexible coating and printed with the house's interlacing chevron pattern. It has been in use since 1892, and the coating makes a full-size tote light and water resistant, which is why the Saint Louis weighs so little even when loaded.
The chevrons are applied slowly, and the palette is unusually wide for a single canvas: classic black and black with tan trim, alongside greens, greys, blues, and pinks that come and go by season. For the full story of the family and the motif, read our brief history of Goyard.
Saint Louis vs Artois vs Anjou: which one?
Choose the Saint Louis if weight matters most. It folds nearly flat, shrugs off rain, and the open top is easy to reach into. The trade-off is structure: the canvas slouches, and the thin handles can dig in when the bag is heavy.
Choose the Artois if you want the same look with a zipped top, reinforced leather corners, and a shape that stands on its own. It costs and weighs more, and for many people it is simply the better work bag.
Choose the Anjou if you want a Saint Louis with a leather face for days when canvas feels too casual. It is the heaviest and priciest of the three, and also the most versatile, since you decide which side the world sees.

How much do Goyard totes cost in 2026?
Goyard does not sell online, so boutique pricing sets the reference point. Figures are in USD, and pre-owned prices describe excellent-condition pieces in classic colors.
| Model | Boutique (approx.) | Typical pre-owned |
|---|---|---|
| Saint Louis PM | $1,950 | $1,100 to $1,500 |
| Saint Louis GM | $2,250 | $1,300 to $1,800 |
| Artois MM | $2,700 | $1,700 to $2,200 |
| Anjou PM | $2,750 | $1,800 to $2,300 |
(Prices verified October 2026)
Rare colors invert the discount: a sought-after grey, green, or pink can trade at or above the boutique number, especially in the GM. Personalized pieces with painted initials usually sell for less, because the next owner has to share your taste in monograms.
What to check before buying a pre-owned Goyard tote
Our team runs the same short list on every Goyard that arrives at the studio:
- Goyardine pattern: crisp chevrons, no blurring or fading, and no cracking along the folds.
- Handles and trim: leather supple rather than dry, darkening evenly instead of blotchily.
- Stitching: tight, even, and straight along the top edge and handle bases.
- Hardware: studs and rings heavy for their size, with crisp engraving rather than shallow stamping.
- Interior: clean lining, no odor, and a neat, correctly placed brand stamp where the model carries one.
- Corners: no white scuffs where the coating has rubbed away, and no soft spots in the base.
Personalization and care
Goyard paints initials and stripes onto the canvas by hand at select boutiques, usually within a few weeks. It is a lovely touch on a keeper and a resale tax on anything you might move on, so think twice before committing your initials to a tote.
Day to day, treat the piece like what it is: coated canvas. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth after a rainy day to prevent water spotting, keep it out of prolonged direct sun, and store it stuffed so the sides do not crease. A soft cloth is the most aggressive tool the canvas ever needs. If you would rather skip the boutique entirely, browse the authenticated Goyard collection and compare sizes before you commit.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Goyard Saint Louis worth it?
If you want the lightest full-size tote in luxury, yes. It hauls a laptop, a water bottle, and a day's odds and ends without weighing you down, and the coated canvas is genuinely hard-wearing. The compromises are structure and organization: the open top, the slouch, and the lack of internal pockets mean you will want a zip pouch inside.
What fits in the Goyard GM?
A 14-inch laptop in a sleeve, a full-size wallet, a water bottle, a light jacket, and a small cosmetics pouch, with room left for a magazine. It is the size our clients use as a personal item on flights, since it slides under most seats while still holding an overnight change of clothes. Measure your laptop first: a 15-inch model will not sit comfortably in the GM's open top.
Is Goyard cheaper than Louis Vuitton?
Entry for entry, roughly comparable. A Saint Louis PM sits close to a Monogram Neverfull MM, and Goyard's structured, leather-trimmed models cost more than their nearest LV counterparts. Goyard also never discounts and has no online store or outlet, so where the two brands differ most is availability: the piece you want is often easier to find authenticated and pre-owned than new.
