Fendace Is In Stock: Inside the Versace x Fendi Collab

Fendace was born in 2021 on the last night of Milan Fashion Week: Donatella Versace presented a Fendi collection with Silvia Venturini Fendi and Kim Jones at the famed Versace Palazzo on Via Gesu. Twenty-five looks and forty years of supermodels later, fashion had something it had never seen.

What is Fendace?

It was the most iconic unexpected collaboration of the year, and it had never been done before. Both brands swapped their signatures, giving each house free reign to dig into the other and combine two artistic journeys in one design. The experiment shook the fashion world because it was the first time two designers had come together like this, though Gucci and Balenciaga had recently riffed off each other in their one-off contamination collections.

How did the show happen?

The collection totalled 25 looks, modelled by supermodels from the past 40 years at the Versace Palazzo. There is history behind the mashup too: Gianni Versace, Donatella's brother, was a close personal friend of Karl Lagerfeld, who designed for Fendi for over 50 years, and it was Lagerfeld who first brought the double F and the Versace V together on logomania garments. Fendace arrived with mutual love, respect and communication between the two brands.
